Today we celebrate one of the world's most majestic house cats, the Siamese.

"What greater gift than the love of a cat." - Charles Dickens
Today I celebrate my cat Toshi...
Today we celebrate Siamese Cat Day, and I am the lucky mom to one of the most beautiful Siamese Cats, Toshi. I became the loving mom after my split from the ex-boyfriend, and he did not want him anymore. Of course, I had to bring him with me and now he is my cat. Siamese Cats originate from Thailand and one was even gifted to Rutherford B Hayes from a diplomat in Thailand. Considered majestic cats in their native country they have mutated along the way to include lighter versions that the seal tip, which Toshi is. They are very social, loving and very talkative cats, Toshi lets me know when he wants food, to play and to go outside. These types of cats are very active and love to play. My Toshi is an indoor/outdoor cat, so like nay responsible cat owner he has his rabies shots and other necessary shots to make sure he is safe when outside. Toshi so loves to bring us presents in the form of lizards, snakes, squirrels, rabbits and most recently a baby mockingbird, which we saved and reunited with his mother when he was rested after his ordeal with Toshi. Toshi is natural born hunter, and he loves to show off his skills at least once a week. The downfall is that the cute little rabbits we used to see all the time no longer roam our neighborhood. Toshi has even made some friends in the neighborhood, the kids who live next door. Yes, they literally knock on the door to see if he is outside and let me know when he wants to come inside. He prances around the street with them while they play, quite often I see him laying in their garage as if that is his second home. When we lived in Royal Palm he would go missing for a couple of days and after a few months the neighbor saw Toshi entering our house and was surprised he had a home. He thought he was a homeless cat as he would come onto their porch, and they would feed him and sometimes he even helped himself inside for a nap. We gave up with collars for him as he is also extremely smart and would rid himself of such disgust the minute he was outside. Luckily, the neighbors know he belongs to us now, so we do not have to worry. In fact, one night he was outside and decided to take on a raccoon or something. We were alerted by the neighbors and it did require a trip to the vet as he hurt his paw. Ever try keeping an active natural born hunter inside and clean his paw out, yea not suggestible as fun things to do.
What I can say is that when they call these cats active, intelligent and majestic they truly are. If you have never owned one and are looking for a loving fun beautiful cat check your local shelter for one. Toshi was a rescue from Peggy Adams in Palm Beach and then I rescued him from being left in Royal Palm Beach and I believe he knows it as well. Since we have had him with us up here he has opened up and become so much more loving than he was down there. I truly believe Siamese are very intelligent because he knows how much he is loved and chooses to spend more time inside with us curled up on the couch or my bed. His favorite spot is in our basket on the counter, no matter what is in that basket if he fits he sits. He promptly asks me for his breakfast and dinner like clockwork and is relentless with his cat talk until he gets it. He also refuses to eat with the other cats and must have his food separate, because he is the king of the house. Well he has learned to share that wit another alpha cat who has taken over his spot on the top of the cat house. But Toshi doesn't mind, he has claimed the couch and basket, so he is very willing to share the throne with Will. This is my first Siamese Cat and I must say he truly is pure to his breed with his loyalty to those who respect him along with his playful talkative cat self. I recommend this type of cat for anyone who is willing and has the time to devote attention to them. So all my fellow Siamese Cat owners lets celebrate these majestic cats today with hugs, extra treats and quality play time. Share a picture of your Siamese as well.
